Local Original Music Takes the Big Stage in Waikiki

Local musicians pull together to create a high exposure platform for Hawaii‘s original music scene.

There is a variety of new music boiling up all over the islands.  Music that reflects our present day lifestyle, views of society, relationships, spirituality, consciousness and most importantly, how to have a good time. The voice of today’s local music ranges in style influenced by sounds and cultures from all over the world. If you are looking for a sampler of what’s up and coming in Honolulu’s scene, The Rising Melody Original Music Show delivers an explosive showcase of talent, on Wednesday, March 10 at Level 4 in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Waikiki.  Hosted by Kealoha (Hawaii Slam) and Hawaiian Ryan, the night beholds a series of “power sets” from Family Dinner, 3 to the Power of X, Mango Season, Monkeypod, Painted Highways, Garloza and Underwater Radar.

“It’s a variety show of what’s happening in Hawaii, musically.  These bands are all strong performers,” says Rising Melody musician/promoter Bret Shimabuku. “There’s a lot of passion and intention behind the music.  Each of these musicians work hard to develop their craft and they are excited to play on this type of stage.”

Level 4’s big stage, high ceiling, amphitheater seating and large dance floor make way for a comfortable environment for such a show.  You can sit back in the risers, boogie on the dance floor, or watch the stage from the big screen monitors in the outer lounge without feeling crammed.

Pre-sale tickets are available for $10 through the musicians, the Level 4 kiosk in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, or by calling (808) 342-8787. The show runs from 9 to midnight.  Doors open at 8pm.  Parking in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center is only $5 with validation after 8pm.  For more information and ticket availability e-mail therisingmelody@hotmail.com;  www.myspace.com/therisingmelodymusic.
